Are these books all fiction, or is some of it real?
Our author, Cat Delaney, is a very experienced, widely published, award-winning writer. She writes for the stage, for screen, short and long fiction, and has worked in journalism for 40+ years. She had three genre romance novels published in her early 20s. The FASTER! series is pure fiction. While the actual race events take place at real racecourses, and follow a schedule that aligns with various forms of formula racing, the characters and stories are purely fiction.
Do you use AI to write these books?
No. Never. Our author, Cat Delaney, is a writer of great scope and loves the process, so she never uses AI, not even to assist. She admits to using a dictionary and occasionally a thesaurus, but not AI.
How many pages are the books?
Risk vs. Reward (book one) runs about 300 pages, including two appendices; the remaining books in the series will run closer to 275 pages each.
Is there a planned end to the series?
No. So far, we have Risk vs. Reward out, with Downforce vs. Degradation coming out in the winter of 2026; it is currently in the writing stage. Book three is anticipated to be released later in 2026. Many more in the series are outlined or in the ideas stage.
Is this a racing romance?
No. There are a number of genre romance novels set in the world of IndyCar, F1, NASCAR, endurance series, etc., but they are the typical formulaic romance-style novels. While there is romance in the FASTER! series, the stories are about racers and racing. On track and behind the scenes.
Is this what they call fan fiction?
No. The vast majority of fan fiction uses the actual characters and celebrities that are the subject of fandom. For example, Taylor Swift or Benedict Cumberbatch or Sir Lewis Hamilton. This is just regular fiction with a high-end motorsports twist, and real (living) drivers' names are only used twice and in points of reference only.
